I didn’t start this…but I finished this!

Confusing title eh?! It’s been a bit of a confusing week! The first part of the title “I didn’t start this…” refers to my blog post, this day last week, all about my new embroidery design and how I was aiming to finish it by today. You can check it out by clicking here 🙂 Alas not only did I not finish it, I am….*whispers* didn’t start it 😦 *Returns to normal voice* But that’s ok! The timing wasn’t right for me this week and I have discovered recently how important timing is in all areas of life.

I did however have a productive week, hence the  “….but I finished this!” part of the title 🙂 This week I have been working on my first crochet hat 🙂 *Yay!* It’s a pattern from my favorite crochet book a.t.m; “Crochet Step by Step” by Sally Harding and I am very pleased with how it turned out. I had a few false starts, which were all totally down to my stubbornness, but once I got the right yarn and hook and concentrated on what I was doing it all went swimmingly!

It’s a simple slouchy / beret style hat, that mainly uses treble stitches, and has some nifty shell edging. I choose a light caramel brown colour from my yarn stash because I felt it suited this time of year. I’m not feeling very photogenic today, so I asked my friend Mr. Troy Owlington the Third to help me model the finished piece, and thankfully he was only too happy to help (cause that’s just the kind of owl he is!)

So along with a few other bits and pieces, that is mainly what I got up to this week. Finishing the hat toady really made me smile so that is my #SmileforSeptember entry for today also. I hope everyone has a great weekend and I will talk to y’all on Monday 🙂

P.S. Yes, I am wearing the hat while writing this post 🙂
