Hey! Happy Monday to you 🙂 Today I want to write a little about taking time out to step back from everything. Writing from personal experience at the moment, I am beginning to understand how important just pausing and taking stock is, but yet how difficult it can be. Sometimes when we want something badly time appears to be our biggest enemy, and everything needs to be done yesterday. Stopping seems like the worst possible thing in the world to do. It seems counter intuitive. How can I possibly stop when there is all that work to do, and if I don’t do that work then I won’t move forward, and if I don’t move forward then I won’t achieve my goal….and breathe!
Taking time to pause and objectively assess the situation provides a life line. It allows you to see the wood from the trees as it were. Personally I think I am in need of taking this time out at the moment. I plan to relax, get my head space in the right place, take out my pen and paper and just take stock of how far I have come, what is working, what isn’t working, how can I build on the positives and solve the negatives.
I think what holds us back from doing such an activity is fear. Fear that all the effort we have put in up to now may have been in vain. Fear that there are obstacles that we can’t over come, or fear that what we are doing simply isn’t right for us and we need to start all over again. But nothing is ever wasted. We learn from every experience and they are all building blocks on which are goals are built and brought into physical form.
One of my favorite sayings is “If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.” -Henry Ford. So true! So instead of beating myself up and getting all bogged down in all the things that I have yet to do, I am going to take some time out this week to say “Hey, you know you’re doing really well, but you know, here’s how you can do better :)”
Do you have any tips on how to positivity stock take? Sharing is caring and I would love to hear them 🙂 I hope everyone has a great week, talk soon 🙂
