Hey Happy Friday to you 🙂 The sun is shining here and I hope it is a sunny day (literally and/ metaphorically) wherever you may be in this big old world! So I’ve been thinking a lot lately about where I fit into the world of crochet. Everyday I am amazed, inspired and sometimes overwhelmed by the amount of diversity and creativity in this genre. Wanting to run before I can walk as always been one of my downfalls, and when it comes to crochet, this trait has reared it’s head again.
My first introduction to crochet came through amigurumi. Once I finished my first piece … I was hooked!… sorry but that always has to be said when talking about crochet! Because of this I have double / single crochet (depending on where you are in the world) increasing, decreasing and working in the round pretty much down. So now I want to expand! I’m just itching to unleash my imagination and let it loose 🙂 However that would be running, and as we discussed previously I have yet to learn how to walk! With that in mind I have set out on a knowledge quest 🙂 A quest to learn the theory of crochet as it were. To develop my skills, while at the same time developing my own style and hopefully letting my creativity grow and evolve. On such quests as these (yes, I embark on them often!) the first place I always turn is to my loyal and ever faithful friend that is the written word, i.e. books. Today I visited my local library and picked up “Knitter’s Lib” by Lena Maikon. The tag line really sold this book to me “Learn to knit, crochet, and free yourself from pattern dependency.” Sounds perfect!
So this weekend I will be checking this book out, and hopefully learning heaps as I go! Whatever you are getting up to this weekend, be it crafty or not, I hope you enjoy every minute of it 🙂 Talk on Monday 🙂
