Hello! Happy Friday to you 🙂 How was your week? Today I would like to write a little about “Inspiration” 🙂 I am not sure why, maybe because I have been trying to deny my artistic tendencies for so long, but the topic of inspiration is one that I have never stopped to appreciate. *slap on the wrist for me* Until today! Today I had one of those light bulb moments, you probably saw the flash where ever you are in the world….well that was me having a thought! Anyhue, today for the first time, well ever, I stopped to think how important inspiration is. I mean without it, we would never create anything, certainly nothing of any value or feeling. I have always just taken for granted any ideas that pop into my head and have never stopped to think how they got there, or what helped them get there.
Of course we are surrounded by inspiring images, people, thoughts everyday. But today I realised that for me, there has always been a missing link; I may be inspired by things everyday, but I am not aware of the fact that I am being inspired by things everyday. It’s that age old adage of not realising or appreciating what is in front of your face until it’s gone. That what you have been desperately searching for has been there all along. And so enters my dear friend Mindfulness again!
I have realised that I have always thought that being creative or artistic was something that you were born with, something that just happened. And while I have also always believed that every single person has the capacity to be creative, today it just dawned on me that it is a gift that needs looking after. It needs to be fed, nurtured and nourished and allowed to grow and cast off anything that isn’t working anymore. The same goes for inspiration. Inspiration also needs to be nourished. Time needs to be taken to appreciate and acknowledge what inspires you as an individual. Nature? The Sky? A baby’s laughter? The vibrant colours in a cushion cover in your local cafe? All of these things make their way into our creative sub-conscience, but stopping to acknowledge them makes them come alive, it gives them wings and allows them to touch your soul.
Life really is about the little things. Today I am so grateful that I have woken up to this inspiring thought! I am so excited to begin noticing and acknowledging all the things every single day that inspire me, and even more excited to see what that inspiration will lead me to create 🙂 So what inspires you?
Wishing you a very happy and safe weekend and I’ll talk to you on Monday 🙂
