Hey 🙂 Happy Monday to you 🙂 I hope this day finds you well and that you had a spiffing weekend. November is well and truly in full swing here in Ireland today and the weather is less than pleasant. It’s cold and wet and windy. Some people might call it miserable, but I personally like this kind of weather. Don’t get me wrong, should we have it everyday I would be less than pleased, but it’s days like this that make one appreciate the warm sunny day, or the cold crisp winter day even more. Without night there would be no day and vice versa.
One of my favourite sayings is “There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.” This is true, for most days anyway. Obviously in extreme weather conditions it’s a slightly different story. But I digress. This morning I had a very enjoyable walk in the wind and rain because I was all wrapped up in my hat and waterproof jacket. I was prepared 🙂 This is a lesson that can be transferred to all areas of life me thinks. Assessing the situation, choosing the right clothing / people / method / route / materials and then going for it. Sure you might still get a little wet, but I bet you will also have some fun too, because you will have prepared 🙂 As an old college lecturer loved to say “fail to plan and plan to fail.” He was a smart cookie 🙂
However the secret to that saying is being able to let go once you have made your plans / preparations. That’s the real hard bit. To have the ability to make a plan, take the action, and then let go and let what happens happen. That’s where you have fun, that’s where the magic happens, as they say 🙂 And so our two old friends mindfulness and balance make a welcome appearance again! They are never too far away!
As I have already mentioned it’s cold today, and my hands really hurt me when they get cold 😦 But remember “There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing” so I have gone all resourceful and I am now using two of my glove prototypes to protect my little handies from the cold as I type 🙂 MacGyver would be so proud! Hope y’all have a great week and I will talk to you on Friday 🙂
